Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup pepperoni slices, chopped
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast
Let it sit for 5 minutes until it foams
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt
Add the yeast mixture and knead into a smooth dough
Let it rest for 30 minutes
Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut it into small circles or squares
Place a small spoonful of marinara sauce on each dough piece and top with cheese, pepperoni, bell pepper, red onion, and olives
Fold the dough over to create a pocket and seal the edges by pressing with a fork
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350F 175C
Carefully fry the pizza poppers until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels
Serve hot with extra marinara sauce for dipping
