Ingredients:
- 1 cup 226g unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups 375g all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- Snowflake-shaped cookie cutter
- Edible glitter or sprinkles optional
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together
Divide the dough into two equal portions and flatten each into a disc shape
Wrap each disc in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper
Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness
Use the snowflake-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets
If desired, sprinkle the cookies with edible glitter or sprinkles to give them a snowy appearance
Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
Once cooled, the cookies are ready to serve or can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week
